The Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill in New Jersey builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education to help clinicians develop the skills they need to become successful clinical ambulatory care pharmacists. Residents who complete an accredited or candidate PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic or other specialized positions, along with board certification in pharmacy.

With comprehensive curricula and dedicated faculty, our residency programs focus on industry-leading research, cutting-edge treatment methods and safe, high-quality patient care.
The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency focuses on population health models in all rotations. Today’s ambulatory care-trained pharmacists have to be able to apply the “triple aim” in the ambulatory setting. Graduates of our program will be able to apply this model of care in any area of clinical pharmacy practice.

Curriculum
The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency offers a robust curriculum and access to experienced, supportive faculty in convenient locations throughout South Jersey. Each specialty program includes weekly didactics, attending and guest lecturers and clinical experiences.
Rotations in Clinical Practice
The PGY2 rotations in clinical practice build upon Pharm.D. education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to help pharmacists expand their knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve their goals and objectives for advanced practice areas.
Rotations in clinical practice include:
- Orientation (4-6 weeks)
- Population Health (6 weeks)
- Inpatient Internal Medicine (6 weeks)
- Diabetes in Primary Care-CGM Focus (6 weeks)
- Oncology and Infusion Services (4 weeks)
- Geriatrics I (6 weeks)
- Geriatrics II (6 weeks)
Electives, which vary from 3-5 weeks, include:
- Cardiology
- Endocrinology
- Population Health II
- Transitions of Care
- Psychiatry
- Repeat Core
Longitudinal Experiences
Pharmacy residents have many opportunities for research and presenting to medical residents, as well as other longitudinal experiences that help prepare them for advanced patient care and other specialized positions in advanced practice areas.
Longitudinal experiences include:
- Family Medicine Clinic (48 weeks minimum, 36 hours per month)
- Ambulatory Quality and Patient Safety (50 weeks minimum, 8 hours per month)
- Ambulatory Leadership (50 weeks minimum, 4 hours per month)
- Service Line (50 weeks minimum, 8 hours per month)
- Precepting (42 weeks minimum, 16 hours per month)
- Pulmonary Clinic (48 weeks minimum, 16 hours per month)
- Outpatient Antimicrobial Stewardship (48 weeks minimum, 4 hours per month)
Inspira Committees
Residents have the opportunity to participate in several committees and Inspira-wide initiatives, including the Opioid Stewardship, Outpatient Antimicrobial Stewardship and Quality and Patient Safety Committee.
